Our classes are split into levels to help make the most of your child’s current swimming ability. All our Babies and Learn-to-Swim classes are booked in school term blocks up to 10 weeks. We do accept Active Kids Vouchers and First Lap Vouchers (T&Cs apply).
Hermit Crab
Babies 6 – 18 months water familiarization and an introduction to water safety, floating and survival skills. A lovely Parent and infant bonding time. A parent must be in the water with the child during the lesson. (Term bookings only). 30 minutes Lesson.
Turtles
Parent & Babies 18 months to 3+ years focuses on water safety, floating, submersions, kicking and paddle & scoops. Have fun while learning. Parents are still in the pool helping the children during lesson. Duration = 30min lesson
Jellyfish
2.6 year NON SWIMMERS A slower paced fun class for children with no swimming experience. This is the first level where your child enters the water without their parent. If your child is not ready to swim without you please book our Turtles parent and baby class. Children will learn water safety & basic skills including putting their face in the water, holding their breath and floating with the assistance of the teacher. Basic kicking and paddling skills are also taught to build confidence, as well as a focus on listening skills to improve water safety.
Starfish 1
3.2 year old BEGINNERS Swimmers can put their face under the water and have some basic water confidence and experience. Skills include breath control, floating, back floating, submersion, kicking, paddle and scoops ability to enter deep water and paddle back to safety. The goal is more than 6 meters of paddle and scoops in deep water. These skills can save a child if they fall into a deep pool.
Starfish 2
School age Beginner Children 4.8 – 5.8 years Beginner swimmers. This level is for school age swimmers who have not had swimming lessons. Beginner swimmers from 4.8 years old They will learn breath control Kicking on front and back. Your child will increase confidence in the water and be able to save themselves if they are in deep water.
Seahorse
4 years Preschool Intermediate independent swimming. In this level children already have water confidence and can already paddle in water over their head without assistance from our instructor. Skills introduced are improved kicking techniques, floating and survival skills, big arms (freestyle) & progress to side breathing when doing freestyle. Beginner backstroke is also taught. 30 minutes class.
Minnows
Average age of 5 -7 years intermediate swimmers. Children must be able to float and glide in the water with minimal assistance. Children must be able to save themselves in deep water and return to side independently to join this level. Please book Starfish 2 if your child can not put face in water and paddle in water over their own height. 30 minutes class.
Octopus 1
Intermediate learn to swim level. This level is for children who are already able to swim and will learn to side breathe in freestyle. Children enrolling in this level must already be able to do freestyle for over 5 meters. average age is 6.5years in this level. Children are also introduced to backstroke and continue to increase water safety with back sculling and floating techniques. Introduction to breaststroke kicking. 30 minutes class.
Octopus 2
Advanced Learn to Swim level. For children who can competently swim freestyle for 12 meters. This level aims to increase their endurance with increased kicking and drills in freestyle and backstroke. Increased floating and survival skills. Progress with backstroke skills and endurance. Introduction of Breaststroke in this level. Introduction to Butterfly. 30 minutes class.
Sharks
Advanced learn to swim average age 8 years old. In this level the children are confident swimmers able to swim 12.5m x 2 of freestyle and backstroke but still need stroke correction whilst building endurance. Introduction of dolphin kicking and butterfly. Water safety and survival strokes are also continued. Class size 6-7 children in this level. 30-35 minutes class.
Dolphins
Mini-Squad Advanced learn to swim. At this level children can swim 25m of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and are building their endurance with stroke correction by the instructor. Butterfly skills and endurance are increased to swim 25m of butterfly. Water safety and survival skills are continuing with children swimming 25m of back scull. Preparation for Squad led sessions and our final Learn to Swim Level. 40 minutes class.
Bronze Squads
Intensive drills in all strokes to allow children to improve their swimming ability and endurance. Children must be able to swim 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke and 25m breaststroke repeatedly with short rests between. Swimming techniques are improved so children can enter carnivals. Squads are enrolled in monthly memberships and are not refundable or transferable if you are not able to attend. Active Kids Vouchers can be used for 2 month memberships (conditions apply). Squads are booked and paid for per month blocks. Bronze Squads run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Assessment for squad is required.
Silver & Gold Squad
Improving endurance and refining stroke techniques in all strokes so swimmers can compete confidently at school and carnival level. Whether you are swimming in still water, surf life saving or general swimming, fitness for silver and gold squads, this will increase your swimming fitness and ability. Squads are enrolled in monthly memberships and are not refundable or transferable if you are not able to attend. Active Kids Vouchers can be used for 2 month memberships (conditions apply). Squads are booked and paid for per month blocks. Silver/Gold Squads run Monday to Friday.
